Friday 25 October 2024 - De Bult: Veroordeeld in SYB
After a festive opening of the Triënnale fan Beetstersweach 2024 we are excited to share the public program taking place during the last three weekends of the exhibition. No need to register or buy a ticket, just come by to listen, talk, and have a drink at artist bar De Bult. Each session is preceded by a tour of the exhibition by a member of the curatorial team.
Friday 25 October 2024
Artist Publik Universal Frxnd (fka Richard John Jones) shares with the public the inspiration for creating De Bult Bar at SYB. The bar takes its name from the nick-name of Jurrien Christiaens from Leeuwarden who was executed in 1730 under the charge of sodomy. In addition to this, Christiaens or ‘De Bult’ operated a ‘lolhuis’ in his home, a clandestine sex space frequented by men in the 18th century. The artist is joined by curator Tom van der Molen to provide historical context on the preservation of minority histories from the 18th century. The afternoon concludes with a special reading by Jens Huls (Monster Archief).
