Sfear fan Ynset
10 to 13 September 2015
At the end of the summer, from 10 to 13 September 2015, Kunsthuis SYB presented the first edition of a festival for visual art that will take place every three years: the Triënnale fan Beetstersweach. For four days at ten historical locations, one could see art, live performances, participate in activities, listen to lectures and music, meet artists, walk, and sample delicious food and drinks whilst enjoying the autumn sun and the rich colouring of the woody surroundings that form the municipality of Opsterland.
For the triennial, SYB returns artworks back to the village in which they were once created. It concerns artworks that were born in Beetsterzwaag over the last fifteen years, but have blossomed into being elsewhere. SYB has asked the artists to return to Friesland and to relate with their work once more to the village and surrounding countryside, as part of an art route that offers something different every day.
What the selected artists have in common is a fascination for elements from the landscape that are strongly connected with our culture; with the pattern of human activity and the symbolic structures and rituals that give meaning to our society. Sfear van Ynset thus not only promises an open and refreshing look at the landscape of Beetsterzwaag and the municipality of Opsterland, but researches within this ‘sphere’ the relationships between civilisation and nature, between local and universal. Sfear fan Ynset is therefore packed with artistic activity and energy.
