Langstme

10 to 19 September 2021

The Third Triennial of Beetsterzwaag, titled Langstme, took place from 10 to 19 September 2021. The 2021 edition features the work of artists who stayed at Kunsthuis SYB between 2019 and 2021. During their stay, they got the chance to further develop their work and in September 2021 they returned to show the result of this process in an art route along special exhibition locations in Beetsterzwaag

Many works in the exhibition were thus the result of SYB’s guest artists’ search for experimentation, depth and a meaningful connection with SYB’s environment and the North. A quest driven by pressing social issues, ambition and desire. With this third Triennial of Beetsterzwaag, SYB also wanted to meet the strong need among artists and audiences to meet, talk and engage in new exchanges after a long (corona-drawn) period in which experiencing art and culture was not self-evident. That is why the theme of the third edition of the Triënnale fan Beetstersweach is Langstme, which means longing in Frisian.
